Project Peace & Love

Exhibition

Project Peace + Love is a collaborative organization aiming to bring a sense of community through creativity, acceptance, peace, and love. The world as we know is filled with division. P + L aims to create an exhibition for artists and bring a sense of unity to our community.

The Idea

The idea of Project Peace & Love came about because of all the division and hate I was seeing when I went on social media or turned on the news. I wanted to bring people together and create unity in any way I could. Creativity and art were one way of doing this. I started by developing a logo and branding elements. A way to show unity with the artists participating in this project was through the color scheme of cyan, magenta, and yellow.

Knowing how much would go into this project and the potential show, I decided to bring another creative mind onto the project. This person was Nick Capostagno, whom I’ve known since elementary school and went to Nazareth College with.

With our creative minds, we developed a plan to have a gallery show, but we needed a physical space to hold the show. We decided to talk to the amazing team at Rochester Contemporary Art Center. After telling them about Project Peace & Love, they kindly showed us a space upstairs at RoCo that could be used for a gallery show. After further discussion, we found a home for Project Peace & Love's first show.

Our first show was a success and brought together 51 artists from all different backgrounds to showcase what peace and love mean to them in their eyes. I want to thank everyone who has continued to support Project Peace & Love and the RoCo team for welcoming us with open arms!

Our Mission

Project peace + love has had two shows and will continue bringing artists together to bring a sense of community through creativity, acceptance, peace, and love.

The Development

The initial logo idea was a custom san serif type. The three lines incorporated into the typeface represented the idea of unity. I developed a full typeface that would be used in branding/promotional materials as well. Cyan, yellow, and magnet made the colors of  the three lines in each letterform. I developed icons of balloons that were in the shape of a heart and peace sign. These were used for stickers that included a barcode that went to instagram
